Serving God by Serving Others
At A Church of Refuge, outreach begins with sharing the truth of the Word of God and extends into serving the practical needs of people in our community. Our mission is to reach people spiritually while also showing compassion through action. We believe the church should be a place where people can hear God's Word, find encouragement, experience fellowship, and receive support during times of need.
Sharing the Word of God
The foundation of our outreach is the Word of God. Through worship services, Sunday School, Bible Study, prayer, community events, and digital ministry, A Church of Refuge is committed to teaching biblical truth and helping people grow in their understanding of God's Word. Our desire is not only to invite people to church, but to help people develop a stronger relationship with God and apply His Word to their everyday lives.
Helping Meet Community Needs
We recognize that individuals and families within our community may experience difficult seasons. Our outreach efforts seek to help address practical needs including:
- Food insecurity and essential food needs
- Clothing and seasonal clothing needs
- Support for individuals experiencing homelessness
- School supplies and resources for children
- Water and other essential items
- Additional community needs as opportunities and resources become available
Our goal is to serve with compassion, dignity, and love while being a source of encouragement to those in need.
Our Outreach in Action
Back-to-School Outreach
Our first Back-to-School Donation Drive provided school supplies to six elementary schools serving communities in Columbus, Georgia and Fort Mitchell, Alabama.
Water Donation Outreach
Through the generosity of our church supporters, A Church of Refuge purchased bottled water that was donated to two local charitable organizations serving the community.
Clothing & Seasonal
We collect new and gently used clothing and seasonal items to support individuals and resource organizations assisting people in need. As we grow, we will continue identifying opportunities to make a difference.
Everyone Is Welcome
You do not have to be a member of A Church of Refuge to participate in our outreach efforts or attend our public services and community activities. Whether someone needs prayer, wants to learn more about God's Word, is looking for a church family, wants to volunteer, or would like to support an outreach effort, we welcome the opportunity to connect.
